Description:

Ceftriaxone is the most commonly used cephalosporin of the third generation with a broad antimicrobial spectrum. It is highly active against Gram-positive (including penicillin-resistant pneumococci) and Gram-negative bacteria. It is the agent of choice to treat a wide variety of community-acquired and nosocomial infections. Ceftriaxone has long half-life, which allows administering the daily dose in one injection.
